Prefabs for mappers
« on: May 04, 2021, 05:28:14 AM »
Since barrels and crates are used almost in every single map I figured it was time to make a post about the prefabs.
Pre-built prefabs will make your mapping easier since you don't have to adjust the textures every time and it should make it easier for new mappers when they can just copy existing models.

IIRC @Rick already made a similar post way back, and he shared the assets in multiple map files. Well I, being an intellectual, find this way really cumbersome and plain stupid, which is why I present you a better way to do this:

How to:
1. Click the 'Select' button on the code block to highlight it's content
2. Copy the lines to your clipboard (Ctrl+c)
3. Paste the content to your map editor like TrenchBroom

Code: [Select]
Template:

code goes vroom vroom
[//code]

Now we only have to wait for him to see this thread and my victory is complete!

In the mean time I could add couple more prefabs

Nice.  Shame BSP doesn't let you paste from the clipboard like this.  Might have to get sort on that.  Would be cool to copy/paste between editors since they both have their strengths and weaknesses.

Oh I thought it could. Guess I have to release that '.map' file for all the BSP users till @sort implements this

This is actually sick, great to see you expanding on the crap I tried to start. The nested code tags are nasty though.
