Kyuuchi's Guide to becoming better during your time playing dp2 - Page 1 of 3 Version 1.0.1 Introduction: In this notepad document, it will try and uncover the basics and the tough strategies you will need to know if you want to become one of the best. Although this wont provide pictures (because notepad sucks) it will provide the manual owner with easy-ish understandable instructions on how to do specific stuff. This document also provides information and help during matches, too. First, before you go any further. Go to http://www.dplogin.com and click Create Account. Signup there, and active your account. Then, go to your game - Paintball2, and click Add Profile. Add your username, and then your password. Then press Auto-Login, and Remember Password. Basics - Lesson 1: Firstly, a simple question. Do you know how to - A: Jump. Just basic jumping, not strafe, doublejumping or circlejumping. B: Shoot your gun. Press MOUSE1 (Left click) C: Move around. WASD, or your arrow keys. Although that probably sounds simple, its important to get these right. If its uncomfortable for you, to do the above things, you need a change of configuration. This is my (Kyuuchi's) current configuration. FIRE GUN: Mouse1 JUMP: Mouse2 MOVE: w, a, s, d RELOAD CO2: MOVEWHEELDOWN PRIME GRENADE: Mouse3 THROW GRENADE: MOVEWHEELUP Thats my basic configuration. Not to complicated, easy to strafe, easy to aim. Now its your turn, try using my configuration on remenissions. If you can clear the speed-ice jump, then you can successfully strafe jump using my configuration. To me, this config is the easiest. Basics - Lesson 2: Now, you have mastered your configuration. But have you got the right sensitivity, crosshair and fov? A good sensitivity (depends on your mouse sensitivity) for a slow reacting mouse would be 40+. Mine is 55. If your mouse is very reactive, 0-15 would be best for you. Now your crosshair. Firstly, mine is crosshair 12. A small red dot, makes it easier to locate and look around without getting distracted by a massive crosshair. Again, depends on whats right for you. Choose from 1 - 12. Lastly, your fov. The best fov you can possibly have is between 120 and 125. Anything else is just horrible in my opinion. You can strafe, aim and see much better with a 120 fov, than a 50 fov. Now, lets move on to Basics - Lesson 3! Basics - Lesson 3: Jumping. Yes, you heard. Jumping. This is specifically hard for new people in the DP2 community to grasp. It takes many people loads of weeks to master, myself, isnt the best jumper in the world - I'm probably one of the worst, but that doesnt mean you will be. To "double jump" you need to move forward into an object (like a small box) and jump twice into it. You must jump right on the corner of the box. If you dont successfully do it, dont worry. You probably wont get it right first, second or third time. Keep practising! To "circle jump" you need to move your mouse in a short, circular motion and jump at the edge of a object. For example, a large box. This is pretty easy at first, but again, practise makes perfect. To "triple jump" you need to do the same as doublejumping, except you need to press "jump" at least 3 times. This is very hard to master, so dont worry at all if you cant do this. To get a good example of triple jumping, go to map beta/insight_b3 by Abnormal and airc. Above the base stairs there is a box and a ledge, triple jump off the box onto the ladder. To strafe jump, you need to press down at least 2 keys at a time. Eg, W+D or W+A. But you have to move your mouse in the opposing direction for it to be successfully done. Basics - Lesson 4: Aiming. This is pretty easy, just one thing I can give to you is some advice. Always shoot to where you think the opponent is going to go, not where he is. Remember that paintballs dip, and sometimes go in different directions. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kyuuchi's Guide to becoming better during your time playing dp2 - Page 2 of 3 Version 1.0.1 This is the second page in my guide for you, to becoming better during your time playing dp2. This time, this page is generally based around matches. This is part 1. This part is about what matches are, and basic and complexed stuff like that. Enjoy. Matches - Lesson 1: Lesson 1 will give you with a basic grasp, and a short description of what matches are, and why you should participate in them. First, before you can participate in matches. You need to join a clan, or, create a clan. Remember, there should be at least 2 people in your clan for you to be able to match. Now, matches are generally a 2v2, 3v3, 4v4, 5v5, all the way up to a 8v8. Remember though, you probably wont find a clan with 8 active players on at a time. Matches consist of 3 maps, both clans choose 1 map. If you win both maps, you win the match. If you lose both maps, you lose the match. However, if you win 1 map, and the opposition wins 1 map. A tie map is played. The tie map is decided by both clans suggesting maps they would like to play. Once it has been arranged, you play the map. Whoever wins that map, wins the match, 2 - 1. Matches - Lesson 2: Renting a server to play your match on. Once you have told your clan mates, and your opponents the server and password. Now, go to your server. And you will be prompted for a server password. Type in the password that you/your opponent told you, and press OK. Now you can begin your match. Thats a very basic lesson, right there!! Matches - Lesson 3: Here is some tips and tricks for when you're matching. Tip and Trick #1: Use vocal recon, like TeamSpeak 2 or Ventrilo. The reason for this is so you can give reconassaince to your clan mates, if you die. This is very handy in matches. Tip and Trick #2: Hold, kill, go, grab, kill, collect. This means, hold a position. Eg, sit on a balcony like on airtime. Kill a person, go rush for the flag, grab the flag, and kill the remaining man, therefore collecting the points. Tip and Trick #3: If your on your own, camp near the flag, not directly on it. But near it, for example, camp on the barrels in shazam22 until you kill 1. Then swap positions. And remember, ALWAYS KEEP MOVING. Tip and Trick #4: Work as a team. Teamwork is everything. Time for strategies, and tactics. Page 3, the final page of this guide. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Kyuuchi's Guide to becoming better during your time playing dp2 - Page 3 of 3 Version 1.0.1 Strategies and Tactics for in use of matches. Strategies and tactics are very important in matches, especially if you want to win! So in this page, we will focus directly on the importantness of tactics. Lesson 1 will show you how tactics can win you a match. Strategies and Tactics - Lesson 1: Strategies and tactis are nearly the same thing. The Wikipedia definition for Strategy is: In game theory, a player's strategy in a game is a complete plan of action for whatever situation might arise; this fully determines the player's behaviour. The Wikipedia definition for a tactic is: A manoeuvre, or action calculated to achieve some ending. Now, back onto the lesson. First, strategies are used in a team so that you can achieve a goal or target. A strategy can be anything really, for example. "Camp in base all the time" is a simple strategy. Although many people and clans hate campers, this is still a powerful strategic move. Its really easy to make a strategy, anyone can do it! It can be anything you want it to be. A tactic, is a situation that happens on the spot. An excellent tactic that is used by many really good clans is distraction. Distraction is one of the easiest tactics you can perform. For example, on shock, in a 2vs1 situation. If 1 person goes to the opponent player, and has a duel with him, the other player can grab the flag, perform the jump over the boxes, and capture. This is a very powerful tactic. The best tactic I have ever seen performed/created is Respawn Caps. Respawn caps is when you are in a 1v1, 2v1, 3v1 etc, situtation. To perform a respawn cap, you must have the following things correct:- - Your opponent in your base. - At least 1 minute of playing time. To complete the tactic, you must wait for your opponents player to revive. When this has happened, you rush and kill the opponent who has your flag. Killing him prevents your opposition grabbing or capping, thus, you capture the flag. Gaining points, this is especially the best tactic on 2 flag maps such as castle1, carpathian, pbcup_pforest, pbcup_2fort5, pbcup_renoir and more. This is the end of the guide for now. I hope this guide has been a huge help for you. If it has, please provide feedback in the DPLogin forums. ( http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php ) Also, vice-versa, if you think this guide is wrong, or you can provide extra stuff I can include for it. Thanks for taking your time reading this. I hope we can meet in a match some time! :) Good luck. Enjoy yourself playing Digital Paint: Paintball2. From Kyuuchi.
