How jump very high? For example in xbmap1 map. I try jump to flag: I jump on box and immediately on barrel, where flag is - but I always can't . What should I do?
-
the name of this jumps is Double Jump... like doubleklick at desktop :D
-
OK, but how? :)
I click quickly jump, but I can't jump very high...

No it's definately possible and pretty easy once you get used to it. You just gotta be running towards the small box, jump at the right distance from it, and jump immediately after it. Basically you have to press the jump button twice in a row as fast as possible when you are as far from the box as it is high. That seems to work well for me anyways.
-
works for me too ;)

That map is crap and should not be in rotation -- it's not even lit.
But anyway, as mentioned before, the trick is the "double jump." Jumps add to your upward velocity. The more jumps you do, the more your upward velocity increases. The easiest way to do it, I think, is this: Press the jump key quickly, lift up, then press and hold it. That way, when you touch the edge of the box, the jump key is already pressed down and you don't have to time it perfectly. Just start your own game on the map and practice it over and over. You'll get it eventually.

I try and try and nothing... :/
Does double jump work for default settings in config.cfg, whether I must change something ?
I don't know, whether I understand well: I run to box, press jump, next press jump in air and I hold button, I land on box, I jump (because I hold button) and this jump from box to barrel should be high?
So, action :) : run->press jump button->jump->press jump button in air and hold it->land on box->jump->land on barrel?
-
That's the right action, but you probably need to be closer to the box. You need to jump off of it while you're still going up, not when you're coming back down.
-
you have to jump right before you hit the box and then jump from the edge of the box.
-
Yeah, it isn't too difficult to double jump from the small box onto the flag. Also, you can actually get into your own water from the same way, a kind of "backdoor" ... but that's a lot more difficult.
-
what, like triple jumping into the entrace?
-
right
-
Yeeees, success, thanks for all!!! :D
I jumped simply too far from the box. 8)

what about the backdoor on castlemania?
Would you recommend not using mouse2 as jump then ?
-
i never been able to make that jump :(
-
i make it about once every 100 tries
-
Would you recommend not using mouse2 as jump then? << I _would_ recommend it.
Any kind of bd jump/etc. becomes easy if you practice it enough.
-
i use mouse 2

Any suggestions on "double jumps" using mouse2?

What I use to do to learn different jumps was create my own server in debug 1 mode and practice whatever jump i was trying to do until I could do it well enough to be able to do it in game with people shooting at you/etc...
-
Not knowing what you said :) . I assume you set the map in some way to allow you to jump over and over ...etc?
Thanks for the help. Is the debug 1 mode the exact cmd in console?
-
debug1 1 just lets you play the map without any other players. Type it at the console.
-
I could never really double jump. Then I started playing Q2JumpMod, and I can nail almost any jump possible. To use the "backdoor" Blitz mentioned for xbmap1, you need to use 34 fps on the triple. It's a much higher difficulty level than the normal double jump.
-
Similar to Blitz when I practiced jumps I would do it until I could perform it backwards. Of course most jumps are useless unless you know how to line them up for running approaches. Once you stop moving your opponents fire is going to catch up with you.
Triple jumps are harder to come by, ksplat2 blue base is my favorite triple.
