I was popping around on creative's developer site and noticed this:

Basically it's a way to edit the sound environment. Originally I was thinking of making a compiler that would take the brushes and build the sound environment out of that, but perhaps this would work better, especially if we have a new level format that has much more detail than the current format -- that might be too much to use for sound data.

Oooooh. Pretty. I think manual control would be better. Just for better control, but you could have a crappy automatic option.
