Title: Tweak: True first person views for chasecam
Post by: Eiii on January 05, 2008, 07:08:51 PM
I can hardly see anything with that gun clipping through the camera. It seems to me that this would be a fairly easy thing to do.

i don't remember, but is the visibility of parts of the model the only difference between what a first-person chasecammer would see and what the player sees?

I actually like being able to see first person view and who has the flag at the same time.

I actually don't like a huge gun obscuring a third of my screen. But knowing who has the flag?! Hot darn!

I wouldn't expect an occasional pub player like yourself to understand.

There are quite a few other ways of telling who has the flag. And I believe I do understand the exploit-every-aspect-of-the-game mentality. I just don't agree with it. ;)

Exploit?  You must have no clue what I'm talking about because it is not an exploit at all.

Maybe I don't. You're talking about being able to see the flag via icky clipping and such if the player you're chasecamming is carrying it, yes?

In other news, exploit has different meanings when used as a noun vs a verb.

Obviously it does.

But why would you bring that "mentality" up when I wasn't discussing an exploit?

I wasn't. I said you were exploiting that specific bug/aspect of the game. That's what I said and meant. :P

in other news: still waiting to hear back on my question.

Webhead: Pretty much. There's probably some discrepancy between the two views for the sake of bandwidth, but it's about the same.

ok, for some reason i was thinking the first-person chasecam was positioned a little up and back from where the player's own camera is ... but i may be wrong.

It may be, but it'd be tough to tell. :P

EDIT: Yep, there's a tiny difference.

+1 for this.  I was reviewing a demo for cheats and the hands getting in the way were kind of annoying.

When newbies (like me) are observing and trying to see how that guy got 10-1 kill ratio, it helps if i can see what the guy's doing. +1
