You have no idea how much I would love you if this was implemented.
-
Demo fast forward too. Actually, there should just be a seek bar where you can drag the slider to a certain spot in the demo.
-
Seconded.
Edit: There is a fast forward SW.
-
fast forwards already there lol... all we need is a rewind and itll be perfect
although one that wont lag out or freeze would be nice =]
-
I agree
IS there a way to pause demos
-
Type pause in the console.

An actual built in implementation would be nice though.
-
agreed, built in ffw and rewind would be loved by all :P
-
http://dplogin.com/dplogin/featurevote/feature.php?id=10030 - I just generalized it to Demo Playback Controls.
-
This feathure could be like the Windows Media player simple mode. Start, stop, pause, rewind, fast-forword, and slow motion.
-
there's already a fast forward ability? what's the command??
-
It's more of a hack, and freezes a good portion of the time.
alias "+ff" "timedemo 1"
alias "-ff" "timedemo 0"
bind "KEY" "+ff"
-
Darn, Eiii beat me too it.
-
would it still freeze if i just typed "timedemo 1" and "timedemo 0" into the console myself?
-
lol nevermind - the answer to that is "yes"
also, "timedemo 1" is too fast - i'd like a slower (or adjustable-speed) fast-forward.
-
Or a little bar at the bottom you can drag to the specified time. :)
-
or both. ;)
-
Just some things I'd like to add into this feature request.
I would like an "audio capture" function into demos that records non-game sounds too (radio etc.). To save space, this would reset just like speedometer does.
+ Would be nice if it remained separate from the game sounds, but not necessary

I want the ability to switch between the actual and your own fov in demos. Not either or, but both. It's good to know the users fov if he's suspected of something.
In q2jump, fastforward and slowdown are bound to the up and down keys, with the ability to rewind too.. just saying.
I wish to automatically record demos on every server, not just passworded ones.
I want to separate demos by date/gamemode/server/custom name. (custom name showing all of the non-automatic and renamed demos)
Edit: I just noticed that I'm terribly off topic. : (
2ndEdit: I had remembered something wrong.
-
no you cant have my demo.
lulz im so funneh.

That works. It's just a server setting, but aren't there too much (useless) demos then?
-
It should be a client-side option like cg_autoaction that is found in other Quake-related games. It lets the player choose to automatically demo/screenshot/both all the maps they play.

This is totally off topic but XBAIN STILL POSTS?!?!!?!??
and back on Topic.
this would actually be a good feature for the few video editors in dp.
-
I second this, especially the slow motion part. I love watching people kick a$$ in S.L.O.W M.O...
-
Also a demo pause would be cool.

I'm currently working with b35 and had no trouble pausing a demo before...

I did unfortunately.
-
Try typing "set deathmatch 0" at the console before loading a demo and see if you can pause.

I hope you wont hate me:
What the hell is a demo?

It's like a video from whats happening ingame, but from different player's views. Also it contains alot of infos about players, chat can be browsed like ingame, and it also shows the executed commands.

a demo in paintball2 is a replay of your game, you can start the demo with writing "record demoname" in your console (the button under ESC) and you can stop it with writing "stop" in your console.
there are servers which start recording a demo automatically if you join the server, most of the time those servers are matchservers/private servers with password protection which you can rent online (otb-server.de, ic3y.de). but there are also normal public server which records demos automatically.
if you want to view a demo, open paintball2 --> play --> play recorded demo. if you recorded the demo with "record test" for example, you will find the demo under the name "test" in your demo folder.
feel free to PM me if you have any questions

Hello mon1tor & lukip!
thank you for explaining demos to me!
Last dumb question: is banterous a demo-hoster?
Is it correct that this demo-hoster is down?
-
Yes, banterous was demo hoster, and yeah, unfortunately it's down.
We are working on a replacement though
