http://dplogin.com/dplogin/featurevote/feature.php?id=10068

I have to vote "no" on this.  Not only would it be a huge undertaking to code all the necessary changes and merge the databases, but it would require that everybody's forum account be identified, and that there be only one forum account, otherwise there will be an enormous number of orphaned forum accounts or duplicate login accounts.  That or all of the current forum accounts would have to be deleted.  It's too late in the game for this, really, and it's too much effort for too little benefit.

Also, it removes a lot of flexibility if we ever want to change forum software, and makes for a huge monster rather than a couple simpler, independent applications.

How hard would adding a pm system to the global login be?

how about a better login on the main DPLogin screen, so I dont have to retype my name when i misspell my password

or a save password feature like the forums so i dont have to log on all the time?

just suggestions

no need, jits already shunned this idea saying it would take a ridiculous amount of unneeded work

Same here so I don't really know why I just asked for a feature that doesn't affect me.  Disregard the last post.

I voted for yes.
Why not leave the separate databases, but logging the user in to both applications when he specified a forum username in his GLS profile? That would reduce the amount of necessary coding, leaving your apps separated, but still increase usability.

What would that accomplish, though?  Only having to log in once?  Most people leave their forum account logged in, so that would be a lot of work a one-time saving.

People would not have to login to their GLS profile every single time they visit the site. It could detect if the person is logged into their forum account and then log them in automatically into the GLS. Maybe it's just me, but I get logged out as soon as I close the page (-> no cookies used?).  That's quite dumb, in my opinion. Or at least, not very userfriendly.

Same.

Oh I understand whats going on now, its not saving the password so you don't have to type it again, its so you don't have to keep logging in.

Yeah I agree with FlaMe..

I could add cookies to the dplogin site.  That doesn't require doing anything with the forums, though.

Yet I hate to have to login to a site twice, just to get some additional functionality. As long as I'm a regular user and not an admin, at least. Single Sign On ftw.

You mean like a "Remember me on this computer" type option?

Perfect ideas!! I think this would be great! Perhaps you could add a timer like on the forums, so you can be logged in on Dplogin forever?
