Title: What hapens to inactive accounts?
Post by: Spook on January 12, 2008, 11:23:05 PM
We (the committee) have gotten name transfers of names that were in use. We email the person using the name to ask if it is alright, and if they say yes, the name may get transferred to whomever has requested it.

I say it should be ok, to send an email, wait for a month or so, and if no response and no login's in that time then the account gets canceled and names released... sorta like forums where 30 days with no login and the account is automatically canceled.

Not feasible, there is already a problem with DP mail going to spam/junk boxes.

Who says the email has to come from this site's email account?

Alright, but say for instance I get a message from any non-dplogin site, addressing my dplogin account, personally, I'm sure as hell ignoring it and flagging it as spam :P

But if you did reply to it, there would be no harm done. It is not like you are giving away your account details here, And it's unlikely there would be spammers spamming about DP. :/

Because of the activation e-mail, at some point you have to receive an e-mail from this site.

To me, Global Login Accounts should have some kind of time limit. 120 days, 150 days, something. Just my opinion
