Title: Player tags that you can put on other forums/sites
Post by: sk89q on January 21, 2008, 04:21:03 PM
Sample:

'nother:

And yet another:

Data is fetched only every 5 minutes, unless someone uses the online server browser.

Get 'em here:
http://digitalpaint.therisenrealm.com/tools/playertag

There is that 1 second delay when it tries to fetch the data if it hasn't been cached recently. The colors are a bit crappy because GD sucks at reducing colors.

Maybe you should put digitalpaint.org in there somewhere, so people who see it know where to go to check it out.

And also, if you use a wildcard, will it always show the asterisk in your alias?

Edit: It would be great if you could make it link to paintball2://[server], but you'd have to make flash images for that :-(

It gets the name from the server.

If we can't use them in this forum's sig, where else would it be suitable?

I didn't really see these as forum signatures as much as server listing. This would be pretty cool for the server list.

They're not for this forum.

what's the deal with wildcards and name matching? that makes no sense to me.
i put [cF]* as my name and then tommyvyo and toM|vendettA on different lines, what am i missing?

The name field shows when you're not online.

If you leave the match field empty, it will only show you online if it finds an exact match of your name on a server.

But if you put things into the match field, then instead of using the name you entered to find if your name is online, it uses the matches you entered to look for your username. If you put "toM|vendettA" into matches, then it will only match the exact string "toM|vendettA." But if you put "*toM|vendettA," and then it will match "[cF]toM|vendettA, "[Other Clan]toM|vendettA," "toM|vendettA," etc. etc. You can put multiple matches, either exact or with * or ? wildcards, on multiple lines.

Doesn't work with this board softwares:

- wBB Lite
- phpBB2

Maybe they need a .gif, .jpg...

Errgh. Fixing that won't be easy or clean... so... we will ignore those two nobody/outdated forums.
