VIE/S3G Unichrome IGP (i also downloaded direct x but no difference in the outcome)
-
OpenGL is what you need. Also, try updating your drivers.

i updated em yesterday cuz spydie told me too, but it didnt work, and how do i obtain open gl?
-
Lots of new players, excuse my error.
-
no ive never had build 8... mudtve been someone else (dingleberrys isnt my name in the game)
-
how do i get open gl?

It comes with Windows. I think another person had a problem with S3G. I think it's a driver issue, but if new drivers don't fix the problem, I'm not sure what you can do. Try downloading build 15 (search the forums for it -- it's not on the files page) and see if it behaves any differently.

My only suggestion would be to make sure you get the vga drivers from the manufacture of your motherboard or pc. I haven't had any issues using the drivers for either my motherboards with this onboard S3G chip once I have the drivers installed.

ya i dl'ed b.15 didnt work

Have you tried flashing the bios on your motherboard? Downloading the latest motherboard drivers? Downloading the latest video drivers? Any new drivers for the computer in general? Sometimes it's a combination of things that need to be updated before it works properly.

Personally, I would avoid radeons. I've had better luck with nVidia cards.

I suggest a GeForce 5700FX 256mb AGP(insert maximum support here) or PCI if you don't have AGP. It's 90$ and can play any game at there ATM, not on fully high though. If you want that try 6800 Ultra or 7800GTX (Which are expensive!)
-
Also, if you get a high-end card, you will probably need to upgrade your motherboard (or entire system) because old motherboards don't support PCI express, which is what most new high-end cards use these days.

It doesn't matter what framerate you get. If it keeps crashing in the middle of games, it's bad.
Ok, so supposedly the 9800 is better than the 9700pro (what I have) as far as stability goes, but I'm sure it's bound to have some of the same driver issues. Whatever. I've coded around most of those anyway. :P
I'm just offering recommendations. I'd hate to see somebody shell out a few hundred bucks for new hardware only to have it lock up all the time like what happened with me.
