Just don't do it, come up with something new/original and way better than that map.

Because on the whole they are unimaginitve, half-arsed and worse than the original.

Shazam22 is as good as its going to get, it doesn't need a remake.

Webster, just play in the editor till you find some idea you like. There has to be some map you've played where you've thought 'I could do this better' (by that i mean in terms of mixing up gameplay/styles/etc..., not actually make the same map better), so have a go at fleshing some ideas out and see where it leads.

If his remake is gonna suck, then his new attempts are gonna suck as much. Dont quite follow you guys in that aspect, but oh my, what do i know.

This won't be a remake I'll just fix graphic mistakes (like the cylinders)

Before anyone else assumes that 'On the whole' means 'absolutely all', I'll just state right now that I do not think all remakes are rubbish.

DT's remakes are very good, they show purpose, thought, technical skill, originality in the changes, etc...

Shazam Remake, on the otherhand is an example of a totally pointless remake (even though its credited with the 2 original designers too, though i dont know if this is just because it was based on their map or what). Its very unlikely Websters remake is going to be a DT level remake, and its drastically more likely its going to be a Shazamr, or an Sdcup. Or how about the pretty amateur remake of Grave called Churches or something.

His new attempts probably will suck, as do everyones first maps - its just he'll learn more if he's developing his own ideas as well as his technical skills.

edit:

Whats the point Webster? the existing Shazam22 is already fully distributed across practically every server and is popular. The chances of your minor graphical fix BSP penetrating the servers to the same level is slim to none as no-one has any reason to replace the Shazam22.bsp they have already with yours. If you name it differently, it'll never get played because anyone who wants Shaz22 will just type what they always have done. Spend your time more wisely.

Yeah, please don't put pointless subjects as it turns away people like jitspoe and gives an immediate bias against anything you have to say as people don't think that you are lazy enough to put up a lazy title. Make it informative, not just curious
