i think it would be pretty good if the colour of your HUD would match whatever team you were on so that instead of your amount of ammo being in red, it could automatically change to be in blue or purple...
-
as long as said colors arent hard to see..
-
yeah, the colours might have to be sligtly diffrent than how your player looks but then you could see blue HUDs in a dark area and so on

I was actually planning to do this at one point, but I couldn't decide how best to implement it: Have a base image and color it, or have a different set of images for each team color. One would likely require multiple passes and render slower, the other would require more video memory.

Let the user decide in the video settings menu?
-
Or have the numbers filled in with the team colour, and then around it, have the negative of it for an outline. That'd work fine.
What about people who have custom HUDs. What would happen then?
Also, this ties in closely with the feature of auto-team-balance. The main reason why people didn't want that was because it would be too confusing. With the HUD, you can tell much easier which team you're on.

now that i think about it, this would be a helpful thing. often i have switched teams for whatever reason, and then get killed by someone who i forget is not on my team.
-
if you use a custom hud then you could chose wether to use it on the video settings

Erm, it's been said. :D
-
yes but that clears things for the custom huds
