With some people on dp, they see that with cheats they could be the best, so try and be the best by any means possible

Either that or they think they're too good and well known to be banned, so cheat to look 'cool'

I'm not even a good player and I don't cheat. I think I'd rather keep practicing when I can and feel a sense of accomplishment if I play well.

My viewpoint aside(and back to topic), human behavior is very unpredictable. It's hard to say why anyone cheats. Maybe they wanted to be the ones to tarnish CC's record. Maybe they feel they have been cheated in some way in life. Maybe they just don't care.
Good luck finding a general reason. I'm sure every cheater on the ban list had a reason but I doubt that they would all have a common theme.

He actually was cutting his grass and someone (I won't name) hacked on his computer.

I didn't state anything about a no loss record. I just suggested that someone might want to claim that they beat them. Sorry if my statement mislead you towards some assumption. I was basically trying to just throw out some example reasons.

hehe, never thought of that. I am pretty crap at this game. Whatever, it passes time.
People cheat bcause they want to be the best. Getting a no loss record is all good, but cheaters are (usually) greedy and want more. Say you won some massive tournament without cheating. What would you do then? You'd try to win it again. What if you don't practise or get worse? then You'd want to win still and couldn't take failing. If you know you are about to lose, then you'd cheat. I know in low-level match play it's a bit different, but the essence of being greedy and needing to be the best is still there.
It's sort of an addiction.
