Xfire is icky. It's like the official AIM client, but even MORE bloated! If they could cut down on the horrible size and overbearingness... that'd be nice. I can't stand to keep it running.

MORE bloated, you say?? at least xfire doesn't install its own IE-shell browser and try to push AIM mail and other stuff on you.

I haven't touched AIM in 4 years. Are they doing that crap now? D:

Pidgin. I've nothing against the protocols- just the clients.

So..no Xfire, aim..

What do you use? Crumb sized light speed introverted teleportic walky-talkies? o_O
:D how did you know?!

lol actually i use trillian. some people hate on it but i just tell 'em it uses less RAM than pidgin. i wonder... might it be because of that big ol' GTK? *ponders*

...I've nothing against the protocols- just the clients.
yep, same. bloatware they are.
now, if pidgin/trillian could only get Xfire stuff under their skins... THEN we'd be cookin.

Pidgin is awesome.  I found a xfire plugin too.  I'll use that when I'm on my desktop (the plugin).  My desktop is Ubuntu, so xfire doesn't like it.

So if you get pidgin, you can then get this plugin and see messages in game and what not?

Haha, no. That'd be nice, though. :)

That would be nice, but alas it can only use the protocol.

I think even that is shaky.

Yea, it doesn't have all of the games named correctly.  Like it would say something like "Zorchenhimer is playing 4297."

Who has such little RAM that it even makes a difference?!!? :P

I think this is why Pidgin uses more ram.

Pidgin:

Trillian:

Edit: and yes, I installed Trillian just for that screenshot.  It tries to install a bunch of other crap too.

So these messaging programs basically are a client that will be able to talk to multiple messaging programs with just one program?

Yes.

But they are more horrible than the clients they try to replace. Just stick with MSN, best of a bad bunch...

I disagree with that entirely.

if im having to use an IM client, I want it to at least look decent... Pidgin looks terrible, I have enough RAM not to care about a little bloat...
