I've found out recently that anytime the game sound dies, and you type snd_restart, my game crashes. I can type the command in any other time and it's fine, but if the sound actually goes out, the game just goes non-responsive and closes.
I run Windows Vista Home Premium 32 bit, but I'm not sure if this is just a vista bug, or a full blown b.21 bug, or even possibly just a bug with my DP.

atmays you just ask to get into situations....
anyways... I never knew about snd_restart.... I had Conexant HD Audio, and whenever I switched from speakers to my headphones for vent, I would have to restart cuz the sound would die... Does this only happen when sound dies then you try to restart it... Cuz I just pulled up DP and did snd_restart fine on Vista HP 32bit.... I can't replicate sounds failure right now tho.
P.S. Could there be an error with trying to snd_restart if you have a certain sound driver... I think there's more probability of other problems, but just tossing this out there to get answered.

Keep your "the hackers are innocent" bullexcrement out of my thread.
Justin, I can only replicate the game crash if the sound actually dies, and I have a fairly good sound card with all the drivers updated also, so I don't think that's the problem.

lmfao. is that the only sound restart command in the game? try s_restart. how long has it been happening? after you updated to 21?

Can't say, I never had the chance to test it on my xp rig, I bought this comp and then put b.21 on it, so as far as I know, it's a b.21 or vista problem.

hm... so i guess that doesn't really narrow it down. lol. in for the fix.

What card do you have? I've encountered this problem in TF2 with my Soundblaster Fatal1ty XtremeGamer Pro Series... just wondering if maybe it's a Soundblaster driver problem (assuming you have a Soundblaster).
Also, are you using s_primary "0"? It should be the default (and correct) setting, but if you changed it to "1" that may be the cause of the problem -- at least it did some weird stuff to me in the past regardless of what soundcard I was using.

I have the Soundblaster Audigy SE, and yes, my s_primary is 0

The sound probably shouldn't die to begin with. I don't think I've ever had that happen. If you alt-tab out of the game and back in, does the sound come back? Do you have 3D sound enabled?
-
I don't use the 3d sound, and I haven't had a chance to try the alt-tab, the couple of times I've actually needed a snd_restart the game just froze, so that's why I brought this up.
