larger map support would help alot, it would probably require map fog just so it doesn't lag

This might fall under this feature request.

Ultimately I wanted it to, but really it would have to be in the new map format, either way I limited that topic to LoD specifically.
-
The big thing stopping larger maps is the network protocol. Changing this would probably double the bandwith necessary, which I don't really want to do.
But, really, servers already clear out with the existing large maps. I'm not sure even bigger maps would benefit the game much.

im saying like in the map editor, there is an evil purple square and you cant make a map out of it, it should be enlarged..
they wouldn't benefit unless the maps were made good
-
What good is it in the map editor if you can't play it in game? Unless you just want to create background scenery that isn't actually playable area.
-
you confused me there
-
If you would widen the purple square and someone would actually use the extra space, the map would most likely be too big for the type of game play this game has currently.
-
Widening the purple square in BSP doesn't do anything to the game - i.e. it's pointless.
-
i though you knew what i meant D:> larger game support for large maps...
-
Too much work for not much gain. Why not just try to get the other engine upgrades voted in instead of this?
-
There are massive maps out there already :/
