Title: New Map: Lockdown
Post by: pastorkjl on May 12, 2008, 08:50:27 PM
Hello everyone, this is a little map we play at school and I thought I would share it with the community. The design layout is borrowed heavily from a Q3 map. I know the poly gets a little high in places (Im sorry) what you see is what you get. I can tell you that it is blast to play. Thanks Kurt

Great map man.  Did you do the map from scratch with the quake 3 as inspiration AKA recreation or did you take the quake 3 map and convert it to the quake 2 map format.
Regardless, the game looks likes it should be fun.

Thats a good question. Let me clear this up, this map was made from scratch. Thanks for the compliments. Kurt

Yes, looks very sexy.
But first thing I said when I saw it was "Wow, holy excrement!"

Now this is a map where new sci-fi based player skins would look great...

i agree....
Learn from the numerous flames directed towards me: 2 word posts repeating what someone just said is not a good start to the forums here.

On topic, it looks REALLY good (crap, just remembered my opinion doesn't count (http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=13411.msg132757#msg132757)  ) It would be nice to see the lower stairs going towards the base to be made into a ramp. It might make it a bit too fast. You decide.... :D

Don't see any errors with it also I like the simplicity of it.

Looks and plays well from what I've tested.  I have it up on the beta server.  The only suggestions I have so far are:

- Add more rungs to the ladders.
- Make the steps about half as tall and use a different texture on the edge of them.  (8 units is just shy of 1 foot, so that's about the perfect step height).

I can do that. Thanks We will be playing this level online today, if anyone wants to jump in. Kurt
