Title: Only one rear-view mirror. legal?
Post by: Smokey on May 15, 2008, 03:33:49 PM
I just bought a 95' dodge neon sport, and then i realize it only has one rear-view mirror (on the driver side).

I live in New York state, anyone know if that is legal?

Found this on www.jeepforums.com:

Well if you look at the NYS inspection requirements

Quote:
Mirrors
Check mirror locations for proper mounting, cracks, breaks, and/or discoloration:
* Model year 1970 and newer - must have a left outside mirror and an inside mirror, or both left and right outer mirrors
* Model year 1968 and newer - must have a left outside mirror
* 1967 and older - must have one mirror that is either an inside mirror or a left outside mirror
Note: Any vehicle that has a permanent obstruction of the view through the rear window (Example: a truck or van) must have both a left-side mirror and a right-side outside mirror.

Thats from the NYS inspection brochure. http://www.nydmv.state.ny.us/broch/c-50.htm

You seriously didn't notice a missing mirror before you bought it?
