Title: Duke Nukem For Never
Post by: Zorchenhimer on May 11, 2009, 12:06:51 AM
Duke Nukem For Never (http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/05/07/0146233)
PLSQL Guy writes "Duke Nukem Forever developer 3D Realms is shutting down (http://www.tomshardware.com/news/3D-Realms-Closes-Duke-Nukem,7736.html), according to Shacknews. They cite 'a reliable source close to the company, (http://www.shacknews.com/onearticle.x/58519)' who said the developer is finished and employees have already been let go. It looks like all of the Duke Nukem Forever jokes are turning into reality; DNF might turn out to be the ultimate vaporware after all."

3D Realms' webmaster, Joe Siegler, confirmed the closing (http://forums.3drealms.com/vb/showpost.php?p=867590&postcount=129), saying that he didn't know about it even a day beforehand. Apogee and Deep Silver, who are working on a different set of Duke Nukem games (referred to as the Duke Nukem Trilogy) say they are not affected by the problems at 3D Realms. Duke Nukem Forever Gameplay Footage Leaked (http://games.slashdot.org/article.pl?sid=09/05/11/0035242)
Tjeerd writes, "It seems that while 3D Realms is dead, some new footage has been leaked of Duke Nukem Forever (http://www.gossipgamers.com/duke-nukem-forever-gameplay-footage-leaked/)." 3D Realms posted a brief good-bye (http://www.3drealms.com/news/2009/05/goodbye.html) to their website, and two of the developers have hosted screenshots (http://talkinrealatyou.blogspot.com/) and concept art (http://www.squidcakes.blogspot.com/) from DNF on their personal blogs. Also, for those who haven't seen it yet, there's an entertaining list of

The leaked footage is kind of nice, but it's all style and no substance. I suppose there's a lot there we're not seeing... but still, it doesn't look like a huge amount of progress had been made.
EDIT: Well, that's a silly thing to say.

Speaking of style over substance, anyone played the Wolverine game?
