Title: Game crashes right after launching it
Post by: wst50 on March 20, 2006, 12:59:30 PM
I've *just* installed DP, and on starting the game it returns this error message;

paintball2.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience.

I read through the FAQ's and the GFX card was mentioned. I have a 256Mb nVidia 6200 TurboCache and an Athlon 64 3700+ CPU with 1Gb RAM, so I don't think it's that causing the problem. I'm running Windows Xp.

Thanks for any help you can give.

By "starting the game" do you mean just opening up paintball2.exe or trying to start a new game from the menu once it's loaded?  Are you able to play other 3D games (like Quake3) OK?

By that, I mean clicking the shortcut to paintball2.exe, yes. I can play other 3d games (Kumawar), and I can run 3dMark05 and pcMark05, though 3dmark runs slowly (3-5fps).

Do you have the latest nVidia drivers installed?

I didn't, but I updated. Works OK now, thanks :)
