Title: Why Cant i Play
Post by: dropper on October 16, 2009, 12:02:48 AM
When i try to play paintball on my laptop and error box comes up saying "error during initialization
Make sure you have an OpenGL capable video card and that the latest drivers are installed" Then When i Click "OK" A Box Named "Paintball 2: painball2.exe - Application Error" pops up saying "The instruction "0x011148a6" referenced memory at "0x019801d4". The memory could not be "read". Click on OK to terminate the program. >:(

You think there might be a bit of a hint there?

Sorry to burst your bubble Eiii but I have got this in 2 pcs with radeon 9 series cards (with the access violation message too) and the solution was to downgrade the catalyst drivers... So presumably that second error is just the tip of a bigger iceberg.

Click da button.

Update or downgrade your graphics drivers as said.  When I freshly installed XP I had that error, and doing as people said above may actually fix the problem :)

Hit the button?  lol.

http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx?lang=en-us

Go find you graphics card in there, and download the drivers and install them.  nVidia seems to be tricky with their drivers, the installer extracts the files to C:\nVIDIA or something like that, and you need to find setup.exe or something and run that from in that folder.  I much prefer the linux installer, does it straight away :).
