Title: FPS lag
Post by: shep on December 24, 2009, 08:28:49 AM
Ok so i got a brand new computer which is pretty good and high quality parts. I was playing dp and my fps is around 700 but my ping raises by 400. When i turn vertical sync on my ping and pps are both 60, and i dont lag. Ive tried using commands in game to stop the lag but it doesnt seem to work. any ideas anyone?

Try cl_maxfps 200, it's plenty to play with.

What's the problem with having vsync on? It reduces strain on your video card, prevents horrible tearing artifacts and you shouldn't be able to see any difference above 60fps anyway. If it solves your ping problems, why not just leave it on?

yeah it seems to run smoother but jsut a waste of putting all the money into a decent vid card when i could be getting 800 FPS

So you know the answer to your problems and then you decide not to utilize it why? So that the little numbers on your screen should say 800? So you think you can see 800fps? Yeah I would recommend unintstalling Dp and then your problems are solved.

gl_mode 0

What's this? I set it and it switched my resolution, cl_crosshairscale and hud/text size.

gl_mode sets the video resolution.  You probably don't want to change that.

Money says he has an ATI video card.

Make sure you have the most recent drivers and software for your motherboard and video card.  If you already have that check google to see if there are any problems or glitches with the latest version to see if that's the issue.
