Title: Here's the Deal
Post by: madandbored1342 on April 20, 2006, 02:26:39 PM
Okay, so I've opened the port and I've setup my server.cfg and my server is now up and running. (I have wireless STILL)
And so I get the IP and I connect and all is well. I ask a friend to connect to that IP and I ask him what he sees. He says,

Connecting to 82.94.1.113.....
Connecting to 82.94.1.113.....
Connecting to 82.94.1.143.....

What is this?

Are you posting from the computer you're trying to run the server on?  The ip's are different.

Yes. Well, actually, I'm always on this one. I'm on a DM map and My PGP's showing, my character is going fine, and I log in. And my login says....

bad password

Okay, screw this. Here's what the problem is now.

I setup a room (Play>Start New Game) and now I have 200 op and a excrementload of bots. I want someone to connect and so in the console I type "ip" and it says "ip" is "localhost". So I ask Miksu to connect localhost and he says it said,

Connecting to localhost...

Connecting to localhost...

Connecting to localhost...

you can't start a server that why i don't think?

all that does is host a game locally on your computer, thats what the "localhost" means. if he tries to connect to localhost, hes basically just trying to connect to his own computer.

it sounds to me that in the first post, your friend is typing the wrong ip in. are you sure teh one you gave him is correct?

Localhost just means it's your computer.  To get your external ip, go to something like www.ipchicken.com.

You probably have a router or firewall blocking connections to the server computer.
