I think this a bug in the map. If theres a normal brush and behind the brush is a sky this happens afaik - same thing on airtime.

I know this glitch for a long time. There's no sky at that place. It's a problem of the VIS export, so it's correct that this is a bug in the map. The glitch on razzle e.g. is the same, on airtime it's a different problem.

Sorted? Do you mean solved/fixed? A completely new export is needed for this. I'm not sure if jitspoe still has the map file.

You notice that, but you don't notice that you completely screwed up your highres texture installation?  I think there's a bigger issue in that screenshot...

Fixing that bug would require fixing the bug in the vis tool, recompiling the map, and getting all the server admins to update the map.  It's doable, but if we're going to recompile shazam33, I'd like to give it a face lift - make it so the walls aren't all square, etc.  Might be worth doing one day, but I think there are higher priority issues now.

Wouldn't the bugfix in the vis tool prevent such bugs in new maps? If yes, i would set it on a high priority (and just the remake of the map on a low priority).

They're kind of rare and usually easy to work around by changing the detail flags of different brushes.  If I'm going to work on mapping tools, I should probably spend my time working on a new format.

If somebody else wants to take a stab at this, though, the dewan tools are a good base to start with (they already fix/optimize a bunch of things): http://home.insightbb.com/~gryndehl/q2compile/quake2.html

yeah i know my high res sucks, but i dont have a good enough graphics card to run the high res on, it means i get around 50 fps, where as disabling the high res pack and lowering the texture quality i get around 100-150 fps normally, although in this screenshot im in the middle of smoke so.. but anyway, what do you mean that if screwed the installation? when i enable the high res pack it still not as detailed, just a little more detailed than the screenshot.

hehe, i would be happy if i could get 50 fps at any map ;)

most of the time i am playing with fps between 20 and 30...

You overwrote your normal textures with the highres textures.  You seriously can't tell that the textures look gigantic, and only 1/4 of the crate texture shows up on the box?
