I can't believe this wasn't on the feature vote already. An LOD (level-of-detail) system is really necessary if I want to do high quality models and not have the framerate be terrible. It will also allow people with lower end computer to turn down the detail of models for more playable framerates.

Do you need a feature vote for this? Sounds like something that should just be implemented...

I get 1000fps. Bring it on!

my Nvidia graphics card has a setting for that... quality or performance. I'm sure most cards do.

What do you mean by level of detail exactly? Level of texture detail? Number of polygons detail?
Are you willing to spend time editing the models with higher detail? I mean it's a really good idea, but only if a good amount of time is spent on it.
And which models? Player models / Barrels & Crates / *Trees* / etc. ?
-
Polygon LOD. Currently, it would only be applied to entities (players, weapons, etc). With a new map format, it could potentially be applied to level geometry as well.

Okay. Isn't there a vote or plan for a new map format also, is there a link to vote? I think this and the map format should be the most important. :P
