I went to register a new domain for the global login system, and godaddy had webspace for less than $4 a month...  I'm about tempted to move off of planetquake and have an ad-free site at that rate.

Domain names for $8.88 USD that come with WhoisGuard for free, I transfered my stuff from GoDaddy and another site to there after I got fed up with GoDaddy and Domains By Proxie.

$9 a month?! I can get awesome hosting and a free domain for that much at Lunarpages (http://www.lunarpages.com/?id=countr12) for $7, lol.

By the way, I think Yahoo! has a sale on domains for $2 (but only for a few months, then it's the normal $10)

Looking at their pricing, they charge more for domains that end in .tv and .ca then for .com or .org. Any clue why?

I scored a couple domains from http://SmallBusiness.yahoo.com for $2.99/yr.  It's too bad they're back to $10/yr now.

I would read some reviews before going to any of the cheap hosting solutions. Some have some really bad reps. I have had some bouts with some very poor service companies.

Even the top ranked hosting sites on there are $4-$8.  I already have ev1 for the servers, though, so I plan on using that for the login system, and I'll probably just stick with gamespy hosting because it helps generate traffic.  If I get short on cash, though, it's good to know there are cheap alternatives, or maybe if the load gets heavy I can move the login system to a different server to prevent the game servers from lagging.

yeah, sorry about that, $8.88 a year, and I do my own hosting, I need full control from what OS my box runs, to what ports are open to the box, to the BIOS's wake on lan settings.

My favorite one (The one I use for my website) is stayhosted.com

I have talked to several other people, they all love it.

for 2 bucks a month I get 500 megs space and 5 gb bandwith. Although, since I wrote a nice review about them now i seem to have unlimited both :)
