Title: Project I'm working on..
Post by: SkateR on June 24, 2006, 08:23:37 PM
Well, I'm VERY new to mapping. I don't even know how to allign a texture or make a curvey path :). But anyways, this is a tiny map Im working.

Maybe some ideas would be cool. It's basically gonna be two little forts on each side with 2 side paths and some middle crap.  Some fun jumps and stuff. Not meant for a match map, just more fun.

looks good, just make sure if its a "fortress" style map, that the side paths arny too easy to take, in other words, easily defendable.

it shouldnt be, the side paths are just for kicks. There will jumps that you can double to clear sides, kinda like blitz :)

Did some more work to it, added some windows to the fort and metal texture border on the fort. I also thickened the walk way up to the fort.

Hit "s" to bring up the surface dialog box (if you're using BSP).  There are input boxes for the texture offsets, rotation and scale.  Tweak 'em and hit "apply face."  Another trick I typically use is move the brush to where the textres are aligned, hit alt-L to lock them, then move it where I want it.

You probably should have something to attach the tower braces to. The bottom tower support posts look uneven to me. Making the sky a wall next to where there's alot of traffic might be better as another texture.  Not picking on you just pointing out a couple of things. GJ
