Next year, 2014, the First World War marks the 100th Time!
I would like to play once a trench map, but unfortunately I'm not a mapper and have much work to do. Perhaps anyone of the forum would like to do the job (something like Call of Duty) and wants to develop a map with two systems of trenches. I think that the map could find many players in 2014.
Small bunkers as machine-gun nests (with autococker), with ladders on both sides to leave several trenches, and no man's land between them could create the right mood. Part covered positions, smoke grenades and normal grenades, it could make exciting to storm the enemy position.
Anyone interested?

I was once thinking of making a map exactly like this. But I had a major concern.
I doubt it would ever get played, because paintball2 is a fast paced game, trench warfare however, does not suit the pace of paintball2.
It would be fun, but without a server actually hosting such a map, I think it would be pointless :(

2014 might be worth a try. There is a server only with siegemaps. There it could fit. OTB currently plays again the stack map that is also not a typical paintball map.
-
It could work. But don't make it look too much like the Siege Mode map "call of duty xD". If you did, you'd probably get barely anyone to play on your map.
-
There are technical limitations too; a long time ago I was working on a WWI game based on the q2 engine. The problems are more or less that no man's land is a large, open expanse with a lot of detailed terraining for craters, etc, and shattered tree stumps, and this engine would just choke on it completely. You'd have to go with really dumb angular terrain to keep wpoly down, and that's even without cool pools of reflective muddy water in the craters.
-
Maybe this seems to be too much realism ;) I think we needn't a large no man's land, many shattered tree stumps or reflective muddy. I believe a less realistic environment would also secure a convincing world war I trench feeling ;)

Why 2014? Can't we make it for August?
-
+1. Why wait? It shouldn't be that hard for the average mapper to make that type of map before 2014 :)
-
Unfortunately, I am - as I wrote above - not a mapper. Can anyone else help?
-
Guys, I could make this, but I don't want to waste time on it, if it doesn't get played.

Does anybody knows some clans with own servers, we can ask for their support first??? I'm now asking otb ;)
-
I would upload it to my Server, even if it looks like crap.
-
Great! ! ! THX! ! !
-
If it's played on other servers, I'll upload it to my server too :)
-
No Problem :D
Now you have two servers (but at JMR, can't you upload it to sPec Public?)
Then we would have three Servs
-
So you got your servers. Now, MAKE THE MAP. :D
-
I shall see what I can do ;)
-
good luck :D
-
Yeah :)

What kind of support do you want from the server owners? We upload each map (without a leak), which is posted here in the forum.
