Title: [Feature]Automatically make dm2 files to be mp4, flv, or any video file
Post by: FusSioN on November 21, 2013, 12:52:51 AM
Can this be implemented? It would be nice to do it so I don't have to open dp2 to play my demos.

This had already been discussed the answer is no. You guys need to search the forums before posting things.

If someone had the time to make that kind of file converter, that would be cool. But it would also be possible to get a screen video capture software and record the demo on one of those. I use CamStudio but it's pretty crappy with its frame rate and its inability to consistently save anything over 3 minutes.

I remembered something like this was posted, I saw it once...
But I couldn't find the thread.

Since the game engine is open sourced, this is something that, technically, anybody could work on.  It probably wouldn't be difficult to do a bunch of frame captures.  I think ViciouZ did something like this.  The challenge would be capturing the sound.

OK, so after you have it downloaded it & installed DP2Demo2AVI, here are the steps:

Step 1: Delete DP2Demo2AVI. It's absolutely terrible.
Step 2: Use fraps, xfire, any other game capture system.
