So i bought a 4k res screen, I know i am probably the first in DP but I am wondering, will we have support for this anytime soon?
it started in 1080 but now it crashes.. solutions? I would prefer to play this without changing my resolution, any suggestions would be welcome.
Thanks.

I assume that it would probably work fine in a window at any resolution.
Also if it is crashing while your monitor is changing resolutions updating the driver for the monitor might help.

I think jitspoe should get rid of list with resolutions and instead let user specify this, with default being normal monitor size, giving some options to change it with ratio kept.

Just play in windowed mode like superman said.

Seen bug? Don't provoke it, it's your fault!
Seriously, people expect HELP in HELP forum, but I won't blame you, vLaD just asks for such generic response to such generic question.

http://dplogin.com/dplogin/featurevote/feature.php?id=10225 - somebody really needs to implement custom video resolutions. :)

If anybody wants to use nondefault resolution, get any hex editor, go to byte $9DF28 (this is only for valid b40) and put two dwords for new resolution (i.e. new resolution extended to 4 bytes), then choose "Mode 1: 400x300" in game.
-
@ superman: I got it to play in windowed mode but it's not the same as full screen. easier to play in full screen.
@Payl: I fixed the game crashing, my real question was in regard to 4k support. With hex editor, what file do i open? 400x300 seems quite a bit to low. Unless we modify the actual setting to proper res.
@Jitspoe: since 2010, only a tad bit overdue, lol.

You modify paintball2.exe, at adress $9DF2C (warning: I fixed it since previous post, I accidentally pointed to string, not to correct offset).
What you will see there is this: 90010000|2C010000. 90010000 is 400, 2C010000 is 300. You can modify it to what you want, by:
1. Type number you want into Windows calculator (programmer mode)
2. Convert it to hex (hex radiobutton)
3. When you see in calculator it in following order: AABBCCDD, you save it into file like this: DDCCBBAA. See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Endianness for information about this.
4. Save file
5. Open DP and tell it to change resolution to 400x300, it will in fact make it use resolution you want.
6. If there is any problem revert to backup you surely made.

tnx, doesn't seem like it's a proper 4k support. stretches the back screen but all of the menu's are small and not stretched to proportion. Thanks for the help, Hope Jit's will implement 4k soon.
-
You can adjust the menu size in the options/layout menu or with cl_hudscale.
-
kk, tnx. i'll try it out.
-
What's your actual resolution (in pixels)?
-
2560x1440
-
2560x1440
That's 1440p, roughly half the resolution of 4k.
4K has become the common consumer friendly name for ultra high definition television (UHDTV) but technically it is not 4K. Consumer 4K resolution of 3840 x 2160 (at a 16:9, or 1.78:1 aspect ratio) differs from the industry standard of 4096 x 2160 (at a 1.9:1 aspect ratio).

thanks .
Slightly better than typical HD res screen*
-
A lot better than both my screens put together *
:(

Lol, you need to take care of that. A geek with poor Res.. A sad story indeed.
