I was recently linked to this (https://www.apple.com/support/iphone5-sleepwakebutton/) webpage and was quite intrigued about it. The linked webpage is about the malfunctioning of the sleep/wake button on some iPhone 5 devices, and the criteria needed to be part of this program.
Anyway, so I went into my local Apple store yesterday, told a "genius" about my problem and that I had found this webpage, he then checks that my serial number is in fact eligible for the program and bam, after signing a few documents I had a new iPhone 5 device in my hands. I highly recommend anyone with an iPhone 5 device that has a malfunctioning sleep/wake button to test your serial number.
tldr; got a new iPhone 5 'cos sleep/wake button didn't work.
