Not sure is it allowed to change model , but you can use command to hide ur gun model no matter what hand you use. I think command is cl_drawgun 0 ... someone correct me if command is wrong.

it's cl_gun.

you can (=are allowed to) change the model of your own weapon, but not those of others afaik

Isn't that the same model?

You don't need to mess around with models, you can just use command cl_gun like xrichardx said.
Use "seta cl_gun 0" in console (without " ") then quit game. This way it will save your setting and won't reset back to 1. This is an ingame command so it IS allowed. As long as there is a command for it than it should be allowed most of the time.
It is NOT allowed to modify ingame files to change the way you see your opponents in any way. Eg. making opponent's jerseys brighter, making grass texture brighter, making opponent's weapons brighter.

There are indeed two different models. The first person one also contains the hand you see. Jitspoe allowed to change the first person model as it just affects something that really cant give you an advantage: http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=27171.0
