I've encountered this on different maps (also in CTF) on my speed servers. In the demo you can see xbmap1 loaded in TDM I think (it just started from the rotation, so it should be in default mode). I was able to switch teams although I was alive (and so did the bots). Any ideas why this happens? Is there any setting that could be related? IMO this should happen in no situtation, so I started this topic as a bug report.
Edit: The game allows team switched in rounds while players are alive if debug3 is set. Probably, that was the reason.

it was also a few months ago but then it was fixed
-
I wonder if I should just remove that setting. Does anybody use it?
-
Yes! I use it ;)

It's useful for jump servers, I just didnt know it allows you to switch teams while alive. Perhaps, this should be documented somewhere.
http://digitalpaint.org/docs/server_cvars_basic.txt just lists it but doesnt say anything about what it does.
http://digitalpaint.org/docs/client_commands_advanced.txt says debug3 must be activated to use kill.

What do you use it for?
-
It makes you able to kill yourself. So if you get stuck in a jump map you can respawn...
The problem is that you can op yourself on max lvl ^^

255 is not the maximum OP level.
-
really? Only on 255? Well ok, my server command knowledge is kind of rusty ;)

How about leaving the kill command, but removing the op and team switch?
-
Do you have a list what exactly debug1-4 means?

Seems like a good solution :)

I don't think so. It was just some stuff Calrathan added in to quickly debug things (as the names imply). debug1 allows you to add "fake" players (just increases the player count on the teams) so you can play by yourself. I don't think 2 exists at all. 3 has the stuff mentioned in this thread. I can't remember what 4 does.

For the jump server. Since the Team Deathmatch Build (~b22-b23) you can not start maps into Deathmatch mode, when you force it (g_forcedgamemode "dm"). It always loads into TDM, sometimes CTF. So I use debug1 to add fake players, and debug3 for switching to obs and back.
Still waiting for a jump mode ;)

There is a jump mode for q2 and it works with dp. Problem solved!

Doesn't show up in browser anymore :/

Correct. Thats the reason
-
Q2 is free use that for jump mod then.

Voice of doom. I'm sure it's something simple Jits changed. If you're gonna allow jump servers to show up, may as well make them better.
