I thought this might be interesting. It's by no means very accurate, but it's what I've collected polling the servers every hour for about a month. The player counts on the server for each map were then added up.

I'd like to see pbcup_sandassault on there but pubs usually play the same maps all the time :-\

airtime, shazam33 and ub_cliff all in the top 4. That's why I don't play pub..

Looks like other people agree with me on airtime being a fun map, it gets better with more people too.

No. It's not. Airtime sucks. Only newbs like that map. You just spray over that hump to the other base and get like 5 kills instantanously because everybody in pub just runs into spray. Then that high path is a joke. Nice narrow hallway that you have no chance to escape.
meddling solid map there tinman. Just unreal. PBCup worthy.

airtime on ice is the only decent airtime map.
You can see that moonlit and sandassult round out my first two maps on the list. Further proof of pub's terrible maplists.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank my manager, my family, Calrathan (Jitspoe was just lucky to get on the team), and all the mappers out there that gave me inspiration.
Airtime was concept create through hard work and time. It took years for AirTime to mature with my inner being. When the time was right AirTime came forth to claim its spot as the greatest map of all time. I was merely a vehicle for its delivery.
AirTime was create by you, the people of DP. This award belongs to all of you!!!

not really surprising. I'd like to see alot more "match" maps make their way onto pubs, im just not sure if they would be successful as pub maps. That list shows that a popular pub map is easy to get into, fast paced and small.
Having pubs filled with maps newbies woul;d get lost on would make less people play the game, but i also think a couple of servers dedicated to more "match" maps would be nice.

I don't think anybody runs the default map list except for a couple cable modem servers here and there, and they can't really support the number of players needed to play "match" maps.

Instead of whining about public maps, why dont you make a map suggestion thread in the server sections. I got one word for you.

Bunch of god dam kittys who complain, but never bother to try to fix what the intercourse they are complaining about. Its like baby sitting 12 year olds. I cant belive you would rather spend time "moooing" about what sucks. Instead of actually using the skills you claim to have in putting a presentation to the server you would like your maplist on. Besides no such thing as a bad map, just picky people.

Just curious as to what all the people in here who say the pub maps suck, which maps do you consider "match" maps?

i consider roundup sphouse and pp1 the best match maps but of course its my opinion

I've learned over the years that it doesn't matter what maps are on anyone's maplist because there is ALWAYS a few that will complain about how much a maplist sucks no matter whose server it's on. Sadly, if you adjust the maplist to a few people's likeing then you have to deal with the people who liked your original maplist the way it was... There are always going to be hard to please complainers out there.
I would like to see a 1 month vote where registered users can post or submit a 20 map maplist of their favorite maps that they would like to see on a maplist. At the end of this month all submissions can be added up to see what the top 20 maps should be to please the DP Community. In that month everyone can encourage users on IRC and in the games to come to this forum, register themselves, and submit their requests.
This vote could take place maybe 2 times a year and will be based on the overall majority of the DP community's input.
I just changed the maplist on the GRaFFiTi servers but I would certainly welcome a maplist that the majority of the people playing the game all seem to enjoy. ;D

I agree with you but the maplist is not drastically changed. Not every map is taken out, as per example "siegecaste", its such an annoying map but although its nearly on every server. You NEED to take the "bad, annoying, newb"-maps out of the default maplist and replace them with some other maps, "match maps"!!?

jitspoe should poll the match servers (ch1ll and GT) and get a count on the, what seems like, 10 maps that all the clans now days play

Thanks for the kind compliment... There are those who love the new maplist and are glad it was finally changed and those like you who feel the need to call my attempt to make it better than it was "dumb". A simple "I don't like the new maplist on the graffiti servers" would have sufficed.
That is the reason why we started this post: http://dpball.com/forums/index.php?topic=3092.20 and even when we reach the final result of a community voted maplist, there will be those who don't like the new maplist. Can't please everybody. ::)

Well, I suppose we'll have to wait until the next time Jitspoe lists the most popular maps.. My bet is that neither of those 2 take the top although I do enjoy both.
