Title: Please Pardon my ignorance

There is a lot of stuff that I know I can do with the console commands but I can't remember what they are. Is there one place that shows the most important console commands that I should learn? My main problem right now is that the game won't let me join other games. The only thing I can do is start a game and hope others join so that I can play against something other than bots. Thanks for your help.

second, if you are on a proxied LAN you cannot (at least not that i know of, or with ease) play with people outside of your network. if your not on one of those, then your fire wall might be blocking the game and/or port that it uses (default: 27910).

I just want to know how to play with people who ARE on my network. That would be a good start!

If you start a new game, it should show up for other people on your network when they hit "refresh".  There is a full list of console commands and settings here: http://digitalpaint.org/testwiki1/pb2wiki.php?word=Commands+and+Settings

You don't really need to know that many for a simple server, though.

just change "planetquake.gamespy.com" to "org" and it'll work fine.

SkaDooSh, Yeah, I realize these forums are aging, but I was really hoping that this was still popular enough to have been updated with new links.

webhead, thanks, but that doesn't seem to work either.

What I'm really trying to do is get the r_speeds command to work. Nothing I've tried in the console seems to work. This is currently all I'm trying to accomplish. If someone could walk me through this...

I'm sure it's quite simple, but I have no direction at the moment.

Edited links.  Gamespy got rid of their site hosting a while ago.  Nothing I could do about it.
