Title: Tech Texture Pack?
Post by: m7feettall on October 23, 2006, 03:23:21 PM
I realize there is at least one or two other posts on textures, but they are all ancient.

I am wondering if we could put together a tech texture pack that folks could download all at one time so that it wouldn't be something that you had to download for each map.

I understand that PB has its own style. But some tech maps would be more familiar to most fps players. And I think of it it this way. A good paintball map is any place a paintballer would dream of playing if he could afford it!

making a texture pac is not practical.

Most of the maps sue the same stock textures.  The others, for example, ub_rooftop, have custom textures that are only used for that map.

mapmakers will generally release a complete zip of their map, sounds, entities, and textures.

If there was a texture pack then you could have a number of maps designed around those textures and they would not have to package them.  It would be similar to the stock pb textures.

It can take a while to dl if a map has tons of custom textures.

A new pack of textures would lend to a new family of maps.

Are you talking about making a texture pack for textures used by most maps, or for making a stock texture pack for map developers?

the latter that could then be obtained in advance by the players so they wouldn't have to download custom ones everytime someone wanted a new look.
