Post by: Bix on October 31, 2006, 09:31:18 PM

Speaking of language, I believe it's "the way people act" not "they way people act". Go ahead, use this as an example of your amazing revelation. Nothing against you or anything, just wanted to give you some examples to start off your campaign.

Wow, good job stating what we've been trying to do for quite a long time now. Wanna help us find a way to do that?

Well, I think started with getting the sware filter working is a start. More Admins kicking/banning for this stuff. Ya, everyone cusses from time to time, but spamming and pathetic names in game. Not cool. Skater, Munchies, I really dont care.

Apparently the spell checker isn't working, either.

By the way, there is an ignore command, so you can ignore players that are spamming.

Bix, if you're going to criticize everyone else's language, please type one sentence correctly.

there is an ignore option in the game, use it if you don't want to see people spamming. Server admins are not going to ban people for swearing

this thread is almost as ironic as the "I'm here to help the DP community threads" tom has a fascination for.

I agree.  It would be god to have an option to eliminate the swearing.  If you ignore those who swear you can't hear half of the people in a given server, which makes it hard to do any teamwork.

The only reason bix made this thread is because he's not allowed to play cause his dad saw in a server buttrape and member of a socially disadvantaged class or something.

All the better reason not to have those things.

I am old, but I still don't appreciate those kind of comments either.

While there's a server side "swear_filter" setting, it's pretty generic and uncustomizable.  I think having a client-side setting where people could add words to a filter file or something would work best.  It would probably be sufficient just to remove any message containing a word from the list.  I think if I did that, I'd ship it with words like "hack", "cheat", "hax", etc. in it.

M7... Off subject are you really 7 feet tall and could you share your age? Also, for what it's worth, I appreciate your demeanor on the forums... Many of the present users of this forum could learn from your Internet etiquette - Thanks :)

could there possibly be a server side filter that would change what the person said to what the server admin wants? like when a person says word A it is replaced with word B and all of the players see word B.

and this is {appy Hamper's idea not mine, so i cant take the credit

The client side would be great. It would allow people to customize it to their tastes. It would also get rid of the problem of people evading the filter with near swear words, mispelled words, l33t speak, etc. They could say what they wanted so they would have no reason to evade, and we could block it out so we would have no reason to complain.

I would not object to any server side one either.

P!nk has a good memory :)

And thank you for the compliment.  I am in my early 30's.
