Of course its a good idea I came up with it ;D

You could apply a muddy texture to water... that's about it. In a world made of polygons, mud isn't very practical. I don't think it would be very popular for gameplay, either. People like to be able to run around at 60mph.
-
it could be another kind of water...with just a little flowing, and grenades and stuff stick to it.
-
i was thinking about making a map where instead of a little river in the mid of the map put a little pool of mud in the mid with ways around it but fastest way is to try and jump over the mud.
-
I don't think I've ever seen mud flow before... unless it's like a mudslide.
-
yea mud wont move at all. hey i was also thinking about foot prints could you make it so after you get out of water the first maybe 10 steps you take have a water footprint there then go away after like 10 secs? wont do anything really but would look really really cool

Maybe once I get a decal system in.
-
YES. and footprints for snow, too.
-
ohh yea that would be sweet

Wow can the mud have bubbles in them too?! jk jitspoe, though it would be cool I dont think it will practical in the maps design because you cant make your own textureflags in quark or bsp, so I think....
Though a decal system like half life would be nice, my counterstrike decal is ownage

I plan to implement decals for things like splats, but I probably won't add custom decals because those tend to get abused.
