Also, what is a good website that hosts files, so I can release the beta's and final map?

The textures and brushes give no clue to what the map is meant to be, and whats more, they hurt the eyes.

I've played this map many times with Nitroboy and I have found that this map is like heaven for campers. Especially if set to one flag, all u have to do is stand at ur base and spray the flag.

Not to be mean, but this is exactly the type of map that you need to just scrap and use for the experience.  It would take more work to try to fix it up than to build a new map from scratch and do it right.

You have giant boxes made out of the barrel texture, ladders made out of a block of grass growing on the side of jail bars, and in general, I don't think a single texture is aligned correctly (did you use the grid at all?).

I take that back, in the 5th screenshot, there are 2 correctly aligned barrels.

Anyway, here's what you need to do:

a) Start over.
b) Pick a consistent theme to work with.  From the name, it sounds like you're aiming for some kind of crate warehouse type thing, so you'd want to be using crate textures (perhaps look at Hobo's stack map for inspiration on what you can do with these textures).  Try to come up with a layout that doesn't have too many bottlenecks and allows for people to work around campers/liners.  Try to make a design that's more than a big box with smaller boxes inside of it.
c) Use a grid size that fits the textures.  In the case of crates, it would be 64.  For things like that metal wall texture, it would be 32 (personally I think some kind of brick or cement texture would be a bit more fitting, though -- try to use real life locations as inspiration).
d) Learn how to lock and align textures.
e) Add some nice details where appropriate -- things that fit in with the theme.

Don't worry, everybody's first map generally turns out pretty poorly.  It takes time to learn the tools and gain advanced understanding of how to build a good map.  Just keep at it.

lol, alright thanks for the advice jitspoe.

I have a couple of questions though;

My first one is, how do I get the barrels to have the barrel top texture? Here is what my barrels look like now:

My second question is how do I get something to be transparent? I hit the "s" key and then select transparent thing and click set contents, but that doesn't seem to work.

Thanks for your help and advice.

I'm pretty sure trans33/66 are flags, not contents. ;)

Nitro: Select the top of the barrel, then select the barrel top texture an hit "alt-f" to apply the texture to the face.  You can also select the barrel top texture then ctrl-alt-rightclick in the 3d window to apply a texture to a face.  I think that's the key combo.  Maybe it's ctrl-shift-rightclick.  Something like that.

No offense, but you should probably try to find some better looking textures for that map.

He doesn't need to find better textures since he ditched the map.

Well i personnaly like the design of the map. But next time, try to align the textures. I know my first map and still my maps still have unaligned textures. Though, im not much of a mapper.
