hello, i'm new here, and have a great problem, I followed all the steps of this link (http://digitalpaint.planetquake.gamespy.com/docs/server_guide_win32.html), to create a server for my group and I to play and I would like to know.
1'' why they not In English find me?''
2 '' I have that to pay some proper server?
help me please
thanks
-
If I understand your questions right...
1. People long distances away should be able to find your server, but they probably won't join beacuse it'll have a high ping.
2. You have to pay for a server because it's very, very unlikely you have the appropriate amount of bandwidth and speed and such to run a successful server. If you want to run a server off your own computer, fine, but don't expect anyone's ping to be great.
-
Or does he mean that no one can see the server? In that case make sure you have done the following:
The most common problems when setting up servers are routers and firewalls. If the server machine goes through a router, make sure you set the router to forward UDP packets on port 27910 (or whatever port you're running the server on) to the server machine. Likewise open up port 27910 on your firewall and ensure that paintball2.exe is allowed to act as a server.

ah.. thanks.. but
whats it is UDP??? UPD is TCP??
-
UDP and TCP are the two main protocols used on the Internet. They aren't the same.
-

-
er.. im here again ^^..
i can't create game for my friends.. i desativate firewall..

You need to forward port 27910 on your router as well as devastate your firewall.
-
only this door?
or it has others?
-
You must be using a translator. What's your native language? Perhaps somebody who speaks your language could explain it better.
And port 27910 is the only port you need to forward, but it needs to be for UDP.
-
you need to set up port forwarding on your router for port 27910. I think do what Jits said and tell us what language you speak!
-
it forgives for my language. I do not speak very well English
exists some program that makes this? my computer is win98 and finds that it does not have option to disactivate firewall..
-
Skurt what language do you speak? We can get someone who speaks your language to explain it to you.
-
i'm germany.. i dont speak english more lass...
i say.. my computer is win 98, and i can't find firewall to desative..
have anything program to use ,... and desative fire wall??
understand??
ps.. sorry for this :/
-
There are many germans in this community, just start typing in german and someone will either translate better or tell you how to fix it in german
-
it has some program that unblocks the 27910?
-
Skurt: Hast du neben der Windows Firewall noch andere Programme mit Firewall, z.B. ZoneAlarm o.ä.?
Weißt du wie du Ports in deinem Router freischalten kannst?
-
my pc is win98.. and i can't desativate :/
pcConfig is good program?
-
*sigh*
/me slits his wrist
-
lol Bitmate, you got a + from me for trying anway :/
-
At least I tried.
-
??
i don't understand
??
-
he wants to talk to you in german, that's why he made a post in all german. it would be easier for us to understand you if you spoke your native language, so talk to bitmate in GERMAN so we can help you
-
I guess he isn't German, but Polish or something like that.
-
Ich benötige irgendein progrma, Tür 27910 zu entblocken?
-
*sigh*
/me slits his wrist
lmao Bitmate
At least you tried.
-
i need a global ip to open server?
-
What router (if you are behind a router) are you using? Normally you can forward ports quite easily. There must be some kind of menu for that ;-)
Once you managed to get there, open port 27910 using the UDP protocol.
-
Bitmate if I were you I would have stopped trying long ago. :)
-
hehe.
I won't help him if he wasn't German (but well, I doubt he is German).

This is one case the community should quit. ;D
-
my pc is windowns 98.. and i don't find ''files'' to desative firewall or ''files'' to desative port 27910.
when i found UPD protocol?
-
If you're running windows 98, you probably shouldn't be running a server in the first place...
-
If you're running windows 98, you probably shouldn't be running a computer at all.
-
but my sister have win xp in your pc.. and one more time i can't open server to my friend >.<
-
You're behind a router, like we said before. You have to forward port 27910 UDP.
-
I know we try to fix people's problems but this one is just out of control. It's out of control because we can't communicate with the person who has the problem.
In my opinion Jits should just lock this board and forget this problem ever existed.
-
And/or get Skurt to the German board.

I highly doubt he is even German. He lacks proper grammar both in English and in German. =/
