Title: Co2
Post by: Edgecrusher on April 23, 2007, 05:22:00 AM
Reading some topics I came to a question (ta ta ta): should there be less Co2, or on some maps none at all, to prevent lining and camping, so the players would have to depend more on their skill and less on spraying? Open for discussion.

Well, i was playing in a map without any c02 and all the nooby players got all angry and starting b!tching about how they cant "defend" the flag without spraying right across it.

But when a skilled player came in (superman) he said that he prefered no lining, and would rather die without air, than get lined by a total noob.

My vote goes to Less c02, or none at all :)

There are specified servers with the co2 that depletes itself.

Well it takes skillz to dodge lines doesnt it? And they have barel heat to prevent lining, but i dont think any server uses it.

I totally agree with you, if ure a good player u will vary the paths u take to get to the flag, for example.

Unless you're playing a map that only has 1 path to the flag...

if you play any decent clans in a match there will be more than one path.  Pubs are just worthless. and so is guntemp.

More C02!!!!! I hate when your having fun... kiling noobs, and then you see your low on C02, so you go off to the side, and your reloading your C02, and then BAM !!!! all of the sudden your dead and it says newbie eliminated you, and you hear owwwwwww!!!!! I HATE THAT !!!`

Maybe you should manage your CO2 better?

Along the same lines of soldier's comment, I hate when your having fun... kiling noobs, and then BAM !!!! all of a sudden your dead and it says newbie eliminated you with the carbine... I HATE THAT !!!`

Remove carbines plz.

No, carbines are cool, but running out of cO2 then getting killed by a newb is no !!!
Title: Re: Co2
Post by: lekky on May 05, 2007, 12:47:08 PM
if you run out of co2 before a "newb", you deserve to die?
Title: Re: Co2
Post by: soldier on May 05, 2007, 12:57:58 PM
No, I didn't say that did I? I said, it is annoying, becasue you have been playing against other people who are not newbs, and you run out, THEN a newb comes, and most of the time cathes you off guard, and you get killed. THAT is what I hate.

That is why you learn to watch how much CO2 you have left. So when you get low you can retreat a little and reload it.

That said I agree with lekky's comment.

Yes, but what I am saying, kilo, is that when I DO retreat to reload, some newb finds me and kills me, well sometimes at least.

Pick up a bigger co2 canister at the beginning of the round and reload before you hit the action, or don't spray so much paint.  Remember, it only takes 1 shot to kill somebody.

How long have you been playing?  From you posts it sounds like not long, yet you're referring to other players as "newbs"?

Post by: soldier on May 06, 2007, 06:52:19 PM
I have been playing for a few months, like..... three I think, mabeyyyyy four, but I'm talknig about the reallyyyy newbie people. Also, I do pick up a big tank, but no matter how cautious you are, you eventualy have to reload, and sometimes you get killed while you do so.
Title: Re: Co2

As other people have said, it's part of the game. Time your reloads better.

If you get a 20 oz. and you have to reload then you can call yourself a newbie because that tells me that you just sit and spray.

Post by: Spook on May 07, 2007, 12:08:47 AM
You go through about 300 paintballs to empty a 20oz, if that ever happens, just quit.
Title: Re: Co2
Post by: Edgecrusher on May 07, 2007, 08:14:41 AM
So, official numbers are: More - 6,7%, Same - 63,3%, Less - 30%. Despite the more votes has gone to samed Co2, number that voted for less is recognized. I do think that Co2 should be distributed by a map developer, but also, less Co2 would mean improving the quality of players playing on servers (only campres would profit more :)).

depends entirely on map :)
Title: Re: Co2
Post by: soldier on May 07, 2007, 04:31:54 PM
Ok, one more thing, I already said, no matter how perfect you time it, no matter how good you are, there are always times when you get killed while you don't have CO2, sometimes when you get a new tank and empty the old one, and also, 20oz tanks are not extremley common in most maps.

What maps do you play on then? Because I can think of a ton of maps with 20 oz. tanks

So? Do you want us to remove CO2 entirely, or what?

no, i think he wants more CO2 so that noobs dont keep killing him :/

I don't think lining is bad.

But if you want to solve the problem just leave the co2 as is and change the .ent to pgp only.

Then your co2 lasts a long time and you still can't line.

I have some modified .ent's around here already somewhere

Or just set it to expert 8 if you have admin. :)

The problem is you have to do it every round manually, which is impractical. I started a previous thread clarifying that with Jits.

It is good for the occassional thrill ,but doesn't work if the admin is gone or lazy :)

Ok, first why does everyone always quote ME ? Second, no lekky, I geuss I don't really want more, I just hate getting killed by a noob when your reloading it. Finaly, I didn't mean they're rare in maps, I meant that there usualy aren't very many in each individual map (of course with some exceptions) unless you start with one, or two.

Check it out son I just quoted you. 3-4 months? A lot of us have been playing for well over 8  years. Hush.
I agree with same co2 size, and I actually like guntemp. I know this game isn't a sim, but I like the fact that it challenges you to choose your shots. Clans complain when they match on a server with guntemp, but both clans have the disadvantage... I don't see the issue. I would love to see guntemp in tourneys.

I agree it would be a good thing to have there. But like you said most clans complain about it.

Nobody really cares what level anybody is.

I don´t see Soldier why are you frustated when you get killed by a noob. It´s also the part of the game. When you have started playing DP you were newb too, exicited when you shot somebody as same as the new guys are excited when they shoot you.

Anyway, back to Co2 question. I don´t think map developers should remove Co2 entirely. Just don´t give it to all players. Hide the ˝precious˝ from us. Make us look for it like it´s Eastern :)
