Title: Hi-Res Guns?
Post by: Gold_Leader on May 02, 2007, 01:38:10 PM
This idea just came to me, but with all the high resolution textures coming out maybe it's time to make the guns look better?  Like I said just an idea, kind of courious to hear some peoples thoughts on this one.

New gun models has been voted on by a few people (http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?topic=5060.msg69820#new).  Now that I have an automag in my hands, I can do a nice job modelling that one.

Maybe if people want hi-res models of guns, they ought to send/ship theirs to Jitspoe for say.. a week? So that he can 'model' them and what not  ;)

Perhaps make the guns more up to date, but same models. I.E make the cocker an orracle or something. Tipman a 98 custom. Mag an xmag or something. trracer a phantom.

Or maybe add a few polygons so the cocker doesnt look like a briefcase.

I agree that more polygons would look nice, but would the quake2 engine be able to handle them?

Pph, the cocker looks awesome all boxy-like. I like the shape of all the models as they are, but some higher-res textures and more poly'd models wouldn't be horrible.

How's your Automag working for you?

I actually got a second one with some upgrades (cheaper than getting the upgrades separately), but I'm still tweaking it.  Something's not quite right with the trigger mechanism and it keeps spazzing out or short stroking.  The other one worked pretty well, though.

It probably needs to be timed.
