Title: A useful chat program

I'm currently using a chat program called "Trillian". It allows you to chat on different messengers - MSN, Yahoo!, ICQ, AIM, and even IRC. It is really useful if you have more than one chat program and only want one software for them. Also, it's FREE (the basic version, not pro)

Gaim does all that too, but I would choose mIRC over it any day :-\

Well, I havent used Trillian, but I believe mIRC does have more features than Gaim.

mIRC > most for IRC but mIRC doesn't scratch the surface of any other chat platform.

what are some key features that people need in IRC? besides entering a channel,  chatting, and commands (like !match)

The !match command is a command made by another person using a script.
Commands with a / at the begining are commands on the client.
Every IRC client should have the same basic commands.

mIRC scripts, yes.
Each client can have its own scripting language.

Trillian is horrible compared to Pidgin, at least for AIM/MSN/YIM/XMPP/ICQ/QQ/SIMPLE/SILC/Sametime...

I hate Pidgin. It's oh so ugly and lacks features Trillian has, though in actuality I honestly hate both of them. They're both so buggy, so ugly (Trillian is slightly better), and bad. I was able to see Trillian Astra in action and that's just as ugly (default skin). I'm currently using Trillian.

I wish there was an Adium (not that I've used it, but it looks good) for Windows.

I've never had any problems with Pidgin, nor do I notice any outstanding features it lacks. >_>
What features are you talking about, exactly? I'm curious.

Me neither. I use it almost every day, and it works beautifully.

I use the default Trillian skin. I hate all the custom ones (I'm very picky on skins), though the default one is not much better.

mIRC is probably the most versatile chat program that I know of. If you have the right knowledge you can script a mIRC client to do almost anything including interact with Instant messengers and such.

Actually, I did a slap script by myself a long time ago, but sometime I had to reinstall, and I'm to lazy to remake a script :P

I also made a backwards script but it didnt work :P
mIRC hates spaces ;)
