You're going to have to give a bit more information than that. What video card do you have, for example? Windows or Linux?

It's probably overheating.  Try setting cl_sleep to 1 so it adds some idle time.

im on windows, running a ati mobility radeon x600 as i am on a laptop, i have a intel pentium M 1.86 GHz, and 1GB of RAM. what i dont understand is that it only happens once. i tried cl_sleep 1 hopefully it will work, will this effect my gaming in any way?

It'll lower your FPS slightly, but probably not enough to be noticeable.

Well, ATi makes poor drivers, so it could just be a bug in them.

nop cl_sleep didnt work, its like my screen freezes at one point and the sound just replays itself until i hold the power button down.
