So, to start off, if you have nothing nice to add to this, don't bother posting.
About 4 days ago, DaRkNeSS, Br55HiT and I thought it would be a good idea to make a channel on mIRC for players to access for their file needs. We currently have 3 bots in the channel that are on almost 24/7 (atleast 1 of them) and you can msg one of the 3 bots to DCC you any file in dp, from huds to maps, instead of going on your web browser and typing in a website. The commands are as follows.
!find <file here> (Meaning the file could be a map, ex: !find shazam22 or a texture, ex: !find hr4)
!files (This will show you the command to view all the files the bot(s) have)
!hosts (This will show you what bots are currently up and available to send files)

EDIT: Also, make sure you have your DCC ignore off. Which can be turned off by going here on your mirc.
Tools > Options > DCC (then there's a dropdown when you doubleclick DCC) > Ignore and at the top make sure in the dropdown it says Disabled, and on the bottom of that same window, make sure the box that says *Turn ignore back on in 3 minutes* is unchecked.

I wrote a script for darkness that did it in a nice, non-spammy method. Why that's not being used, I don't know. >_>

Well what method did you use?

As opposed to sending the user one notify message per file found, potentially resulting in waaay to many freaking messages and getting your bot kicked, I had my script send one or two messages containing a list of 20ish files found each.
Less kicking, less unnecessary text, more usable.

I really like this. Very useful and handy. Instead of opening up Mozilla or Internet Explorer(Never...), You can just join the mIRC channel and type in what you are looking for. Sometimes map choices aren't on the map site, so you never know when you may need to use this. Good work.

I found out, you don't need .bsp efind

I don't understand why DaRkNeSS's bot is !efind.
But mine is still !find and it's working just fine.

I don't think you need .bsp for anything.

Don't put .bsp in or it probably won't bring up any results. We blocked the search *.bsp to avoid any flooding, so if you want to search for something just put in the name without the extension.
!find will bring up any matches that have that term in it.
Example: !find shazam brings up all the shazam maps
!efind is for the exact search term, so if you know the exact map name then you can use !efind and not get spammed with matching results.
!efind shazam will only bring up shazam.bsp and none of the other shazam maps

Eiii I worked on the script a bit and fixed the spam problem. It now sends one message with the results. I hope that is more to your liking.

!efind is if you know the exact name of the file you want. It will only return an exact match to what you entered. But !find will return anything with the word you entered in it.
