jitspoe has already asked that it be removed because it was never fully compiled and because of this i always lag out on this map :P

It's really up to the server owners-- some people prefer spraying over playing.

I would agree with having someone compile it correctly, as long as they don't change anything else in the map such as jumps, bunkers, shooting angles etc.

I'm compiling as we speak: (numportals taking forever :-\)
Will post when I'm done. Also, I changed the name to xbmap1_alt. Just wondering if that was O.K.? Because I noticed when Jitspoe added light to shazam33, he renamed it with an _alt suffix.

I decompiled. It has a few errors from winbspc (like some of the textures changed)
Also, yes, I fixed the barrel tops, and I added natural sunlight. Nothing had changed, except I have to add a lantern hanging inside the water path (otherwise you can't see anything :()

Not sure if you noticed, but the sky is a rock texture. It didn't light for me before I fixed that.

Don't worry, I fixed all of that, right now I'm trying to make the sexiest lantern I can muster ;)

Thats where mine usually stops too. Maybe thats why it wasn't lit in the first place.

water is wicked dark the barrels are weird looking and the textures arent rite on them and i think it looks better non lite for some reason

The water isn't dark. >_> You did, however, manage to unset the 'warp' flag that makes the water warp and reflective. Kaos, you're a horrible person.

Barrels are wrong, yes. Sleep with one eye open.

And here is a mistake with a brush (attached). Think it comes from decompiling the map.
In the original one are also 2 ammo packs overlapped and in the other base one at the top of this barrier. Would be nice if you can fix it for this version of the map.

OMFG I creamed myself when I seen this with the high-res textures; it looked amazing.
Only problem I seen is what Chef menitioned.
Kaos I don't know what you are talking about the water area actually looks better being dark. It seems more realistic.
Also the barrel textures looked fine to me.

I played it on the .cF. server this morning (till I left to pwn in real paintball) it plays great I think the dark in the water does make it more realistic KiLo is right.

I don't like the new lights in the water as much but it's still awesome :)

I just added them so that new players playing the map would know that there is a path there. :P

Actually, I just named the map shazam33. Shazam33_alt was the old map. I think the only reason it existed was because there was a bug in the entity loading code that caused the new shazam33 to crash sometimes.
The map still has issues even after your tweaks. You can still "see" basically everything in the map from one base to the other (1st shot). It might just need some well placed hint brushes, but I think it has to do more with all the cracks and misaligned brushes (2nd shot). It would probably be less work to make a new map from scratch, and do it right, than get this one all fixed up, I think.

Yeah I guess the work I did was basically a temporary fix.
When I find some time in the near future I'll redo the whole map :)
