Title: Adding XFire to this forum
Post by: XtremeBain on September 07, 2007, 08:06:56 AM
I wanted to see if people think that we should add XFire to the forum user profiles here.  This hack (http://www.smfhacks.com/hacks/XFire-Field.html) adds XFire in to profile and user information views just like the existing AIM/MSN/Y! ones.  It's also probably the best implementation out there.

Disclaimer: If this is something that has to go to the Feature Vote thread, then just forget about it.

I'm surprised nobody has responded to this, but I like the idea XBain.  How long would it take to set up, an hour at most?

I take it your not a big fan of the Feature Vote?

It'd take less than a minute, given SMF's modification application engine, that is, if there's nothing manual to do. If there is, give it 5-10 minutes.

The idea would be cool, but i think it's more important we get rid of P1nk's distracting avatars, i just watched it spin for about 5 minutes before i actually posted here

^^

True, watching P!nks avatar is on my to do list in the morning while drinking coffe. Calms me down and brings  joy into my whole day.

Edit: +1 for that idea.

The package was installed successfully. You should now be able to use whatever functionality it adds or changes; or not be able to use functionality it removes.

This had better not break anything. :)

You do realize you can shut avatars off and they're disabled by default, right?

So this is ok but an older version of Vent is not.

I know you can turn off avatars, but p1nk's moves lol. My hottie pball chick is stationary, therefore a hell of a lot less distracting.

Thanks, jitspoe.  Everyone goto http://dplogin.com/forums/index.php?action=profile;sa=forumProfile to add your Xfire name to your profile.  I was sort of hoping it would show a little icon under the names like the AIM/ICQ ones used to.  (Maybe it broke that?)

Edit: The icon almost shows up in the 'Who's online' area beside the other IM accounts.  I forget if that's where I saw the icons or if it was under their name beside each post.  Anyway, the xfire.gif image is broken, I think it needs to be copied over to the theme folder.  The img src is: http://alt.dplogin.com/forums/Themes/dp2/images/XFire.gif

I disabled the icons in the posts a while back because they caused the page loads to take a long time.  If you click on a person's name to view their profile, however, it lists the icq, yim, aim, xfire, etc.

You still didn't fix the XFire.gif in the DP theme (it doesn't load on the Who's Online page).

Edit: oh I see, it's replaced with a hyperlink of their XFire name now, instead.
