I have just started the process of learning .bsp, and so far it is fun, though a bit frustrating.
Lately our clan has been collaborating in coming up with map ideas. One of our members, Rept, has made one already, and is working on another.
But as you all well know it takes a while to make a map so the ideas could outstrip the production pretty quickly.
What I am wondering is this. Are there any mappers who might be interested in working on a map concept that is drawn up for them, just for a challenge, or if they are having trouble getting ideas?
We could post a "community map idea" and then let folks try it, and put their own spin on it.
If a mapper was interested they would post asking to participate.
The map name for their version would go sequentially.
So let's say I had an idea for a map named parasite. The first mapper wanting to take a shot at it would claim the working name "parasite1" then the next "parasite2" etc.
Freedom of expression and messing with the concept would be encouraged.
This is just an idea. Not sure if there is any interest or not.

Sure. I'd be willing to help.
PropaintL, now known as Remenissions, was Hellhound/HeadSrtong's idea that I brought to life.
They simply supplied me with a detailed drawing on paint of a birds-eye view of the map.
Here is what they drew for me: (http://img237.imageshack.us/img237/1388/paintopiabj8.jpg)

Yes, our current project looked like this in the drawing stage:

He is making revisions and forming it, and it looks to be going under the name "stepping stones." It is not quite finished yet, but already fun to play test.
By the way, played two scrims on your map so far, and enjoyed it.
We took a little time to practice last night and hit the high window jump, the mid jump and the cap jump.

I am willing to help
But I need to learn a few things aabout compiling
I have tried to contact s8n, jitspoe, and other map makers but got no reply so if anyone knows the proper way to compile can you please relay that to me. Thanks
-
Alright, but note, these two maps are called for.
We can start coming up with new ideas :)

make sure there are no leaks in your map. Then go Final compile. Not the hardest thing...

blaa its very hard.
Sometimes your mouse keys get stuck, and you can't click.
or the endless hours on the computer drain your eyeballs of their fluids and you can't see right.
Very tricky business.

so are you tellin me that I dont gotta do all the other compiling, I was doing every compile in order from top to bottom.

Final compile has all the other "compiles" in it. Starting from the qbsp to qvis and lights.
