Help and Support / Issues with one axis on an xbox controller
« on: February 04, 2011, 07:17:24 PM »
I made one of the homemade original xbox controller-to-usb adapters and it seems like itd work wonderfully with paintball.  But one, just one, of the axises refuses to work.  Its the joystick to the right, the y axis.  It works and registers with the driver program (XBCD) but it just will not work in the game no matter what I call it.  Ive tried naming it every axis it lists plus assigning it as buttons and just that axis refuses to be recognized.  The x axis on the same joystick even works, just not the y.  Any ideas?

I figured that out lol I got the same problem everyone else has with the running then randomly crashing.  But it crashes around the same point that the windows version lags.  I took some netgraph screenshots buuuut my screenshot directory isn't there.  Anyone know where it went?

Make a list of all your problems again...

  • - Maps will load, but not DOWNload (Sticks at 3%)
  • - Lagging
  • - Can't log on dplogin, works on site however
  • - Anything else?

And fixes:

  • - Connection/router speed
  • - Installing update
  • - Remaking account on game and entering password manually
  • - Uninstalling and reinstalling the game

Anyone else got anything?

No, juicey, this dont have anything to do with the map problem.  This is a... separate issue.

It shoooould work then.  Re-create your profile in the game, make sure both usernames match, and enter the password without the auto-signin/remember pass.

Can you log on with the same user/pass on the DPlogin section of the website?

When you fire the game up and it tells you you cant log you on, make sure your username is correct.  Then backspace your password out of the box and re-enter it.

Did you install the build update?  Or just reinstall the build altogether?

Do you always have that problem or is this just recent?

LOL @ the peanut butter Mitchell.  But anyway, Serve, does the game list your connection speed while downloading (i assume its downloading because there is no % status when a pre-downloaded map loads) the games?  Like is it "x mb/s" or "x kb/s"?  If its kb/s it would mean its connection, but if the speed is good it would be the game itself is freezing, right (someone with a little more knowledge than i)?  As for the lagging i got the same problem so cant help ya there.  And thanks for the map pack link ic3.

I've given up on Windows 7 for now.  Trying my luck with linux.  Mint will run the game but it will give out too easily.  Any stronger distros that would take advantage of the hardware?

So I need to roll back to directx9?  I did research and i actually have a gma 950, but it supports directx 9.  Apparently it can run 10-11, but its made for 9.  And if i do roll back the drivers, with it affect 7s performance?

And everyone else:  I know i am on a netbook, and its by no means a powerhouse.  But dp did work with windows xp.  It worked great.

Justin - All the downloads for netgraph couldnt be found and i forgot about the fps.  But i normally play fullscreen so the graphic interface shouldnt matter should it?  But as for internet that wouldnt be a good judge right now because like every server i got on was lagging pretty bad (on everyones part)

Oh, and experience index is 2.0.

Im not saying youre wrong, im just wondering why theres so much of a drastic difference between 7 and xps performance.

And ill think ill just go with this solution:  put xp on an external hard drive.

No we ordered it but its a genuine copy.  And vLaD i just had task manager in the background and it stayed at a solid 1gb memory usage and it ranged from about 60-75% cpu usage.  Occasionally it would spike, but for whatever reason it did it when the game was running like it should be.  Its fine if its just me but the instant someone comes about it slows down.  In a roomful i cant even turn around fast enough without getting killed 20 times.

Here are the specs on my netbook:

Atom processor (1.66 GHz)
2 gb ram
160 gb hdd
directx 11 graphics card

I know that windows 7 puts more of a strain on the processor, but it shouldnt be enough to kill a low-power game like this should it?

Oh and im using 32 bit.

vLaD:  I got the drivers.  I know what im doing as far as that goes.  Only thing different is i had to update the bios for windows 7.  Ill have to check what the cpu usage is but like i said xp ran it fine.  With wmp limewire skype and whatever else running in the background.  But ive closed all unnecessary stuff and it still lags using 7.

And I'll get back to you and justin on the specs.

Ok, so I have an ASUS netbook (no gaming rig i know, but the specs are all double the requirement) that I use at home.  I found dp and it worked great with xp.  Then i "upgraded" to windows 7...  Most people get that stupid "opengl" graphics error which I somehow got around.  The game will run, but it's incredibly jerky/laggy/slow.  I know it's not the hardware because it ran flawlessly with xp.  Anyone have any clue what i could do differently?
