Server Discussion / Starting paintball2 on Linux
« on: November 20, 2007, 11:01:32 PM »
Distro: Ubuntu Gutsy 7.10 Server

I've setup a pretty minimalist server configuration, and when I try to run paintball2 from console, I get the following:

Code: [Select]
james@ubuntu-server:~/paintball2$ ./paintball2 +set dedicated 1 +set public 1 +exec server.cfg +map siegecastle

Paintball 2 -- Version 2.0
Illegal instruction

Doesn't matter what arguments I give paintball2, it always dies with that.

Any help would be appreciated, thanks.

Help and Support / Password recovery for global login accounts
« on: November 19, 2007, 08:27:33 PM »
I downloaded build 19 for a few quick games and ran across the global login... I tried to create an account, but apparently I already made one in times past, since my email account is already in use. I tried my normal passwords for what I assume is my account ("bug") but none of them work. Is there some sort of password recovery / click this link an email / et cetera that I can use?

Cheater Reports and Bans / Why It Sucks To Be Darkness
« on: October 07, 2006, 10:55:59 PM »
Well well. I just recently signed on and received a nice little PM from our good friend Darkness. It appears he wanted an exploit, and who should he contact? Me! Big mistake. I could have simply yelled at him in a PM, but being the arse I am, I like to post stuff on the forums mocking you.

Thanks for the laugh, Darkness. Jitspoe, please tban/gban this noob as he was trying to obtain exploits. Thanks.

Mapping / The Great Map Sift
« on: October 06, 2006, 07:10:51 PM »
After too many years of ignoring people asking me to sift my maps, I finally broke down and started. Here's the summary:

Unsifted: 2103 maps

SIFT 1: Map contains either "gamemode" "teamnumber" or "pball" - 656 maps
SIFT 2: Delete any maps with "beta" in the name - 645 maps
SIFT 3: Delete any maps with "jump" in the name - 615 maps (riverjumping.bsp was spared)
SIFT 4: Delete any maps with "alpha", "_b", or "test" in the name - 593 maps
SIFT 5: Delete any maps that I think are bad - 579 maps

Alright! The sifted maps and updated maps.torrent has been placed on my site! Enjoy!

Other Stuff / Torrent Questions
« on: October 05, 2006, 07:27:24 PM »
Hey. I've been just finished converting all the maps on my site to torrents (to help with Dajoob's current space and bandwidth problem), but I have a question:

Ok, I have a torrent instead of a .bsp set up for every map on the site. I'm not currently seeding these. I also have a torrent set up for all the maps (it's a torrent of a directory, with each map in it). I am seeding this.

My question is: is there any way to set up the individual map torrents to point towards the all-maps package that I am seeding? Or do I have to seed each and every one of those individual maps?

There is no need for excretory openingry here. Thanks.

Post three reasons why you suck at life. Hold nothing back.

I suck at life, because...

  • I made a forum post about sucking at life
  • I put the moves on my pillow while looking at those pictures of Smokey
  • After sending an archive of my 'Writing' folder to my grandma, I realized I had already deleted all my writing and put the goat pr0n in there.

Paintball 2 Discussion / ROCK Lite
« on: August 08, 2006, 02:37:23 AM »
Yes folks, ROCK is back.

After one too many long weeks of realizing that I still hadn't even started on the behemothian job of renovating and setting up ROCK on Dajoob's servers, I realized, 'What the crap?! Why do I have all this random junk? All people want is to take my maps!'

With that stunning realization, I scratched up a quick 'n' dirty new version of ROCK -> ROCK Lite! It has a very nice point-click interface. Just pick the map, and click download.

Please test it out, and leave me some feedback.

P.S.
You can type the first character of the map you'd like (while the list is open) and it will spin through all maps starting with that letter.

P.S.
The syntax for opening a map is
http://rockon.dajoob.com/?MAPNAME

You can use it either with or without .BSP on the end. If you want to directly download a map without seeing the first page with hash info/etc, just add &download or &pancakes or &whatever to the ?MAPNAME part. Ex:

http://rockon.dajoob.com/?palace.bsp&waffles

One more thing to note, if a mapname contains special characters (! @ # $ % ^ & * ( ) etc), they must be 'urlencoded' or have special characters replaced with encoded counterparts. Ex:

http://rockon.dajoob.com/?#toxin#weird
becomes
http://rockon.dajoob.com/?%23toxin%23weird

Server Discussion / jump! Dedicated
« on: July 14, 2006, 01:20:17 AM »
After wasting 2 weeks of paid rental time dealing with a knows-crap-about-servers tech rep, I've finally got a semi-working jump server up and runnin'. It doesn't show up in the serverlist, despite the fact that the logs state it's sending a heartbeat successfully, but with all the newbie crap that these servers have, I wouldn't be surprised if the problem is on their end.

Server: 216.15.144.170

Oy! I'm back with more picture MAAAAADNESS! This time it's about wub.

What, you ask? All it returns is "We love you DP?"

It takes up to 5 parameters, but all are optional:
verb                      what you are doing.
                               default love
noun                     who/what you are referring to.
                               default DP
nominative             who/what is doing the action.
                               default We.
pronoun                term used to describe the noun.
                               default you
hearts                   if included, draw hearts in background
                               default off

Presuming you know anything about query strings, you can use these parameters like this:

Code: [Select]
http://66.169.178.110:1647/special/love.php?nominative=Everyone&verb=wants to kill&pronoun=you,&noun=Vinne&heartsReturns "Everyone wants to kill you, Vinne!" with hearts in the background.

Without further ado...

Everyone wants to kill you, Vinne!
Everyone wants to blame the Jitler!

Server Discussion / Unusual server crashing. New 'sploit?
« on: June 23, 2006, 02:08:44 AM »
Hey. For no apparent reason, at random times, my server will lag out until all players are forced to remain frozen or disconnect. This has only started happening today, and attached is the sshot of what the server dumps as the problem. What the heck is this? Some new 'sploit that has just popped up today? Whatever the cause of it is, it's happened very frequently all day, and is getting extremely annoying. Any help would be appreciated.
